本片主要讲述了历史上体积最大也是最著名的远洋邮轮玛丽王后号的传奇故事。玛丽王后号始建于经济大萧条最艰难时期，它不仅拥有惊人的航速，而且装饰奢华精致，成为无数名流贵族横渡大西洋的首选。在二战爆发之后，玛丽王后号帮助无数犹太家庭都在逃离纳粹的迫害。随后开始执军事任务。它不仅负责运送军队，而且英国首相温斯顿·丘吉尔也曾多次乘坐玛丽王后号横渡大西洋。它多次安全通过敌人出没的水域，从未遭到袭击。战争结束之后，玛丽王后号永久停泊在加州长滩，成为水上酒店和博物馆，继续演绎自己的传奇。
